What you will need:

Magazine dies, stamps and papers

Nuvo Deluxe adhesive

Craft Perfect redline tape

Timmer/Guillotine

Tim Holtz Stamping Platform

Nuvo Hybrid Ink – Black Shadow

8x Jump Rings (1" Diameter)

Craft Perfect in Ocean Blue, Ivory White, Mustard Yellow

Assorted Ribbon - White, Golden Yellow, Mustard, Navy

Base Card 240 GSM - Navy

Magnets

Tonic Tangerine Die Cutting Machine

Nuvo Alcohol Makers - 417n 377n 381n & 499n

Step 1

Cut the largest base die out of Navy 240gsm card stock 8 times. These will also be used for the flaps to your pages. The front and back page of your book uses the entire base die. You need to fold the die cut card at the second score line.

Step 2

Place the strip die which has holes in the shape of flowers on it, on the card at the first score line and cut through 2x pieces of card, this is where you will thread your rings. Then die cut the rectangle layering die in the cardstock colour Ocean and white, this is to line your page where you could be adding a photo.

Step 3

Die cut the decorative panel in white and the plain panel in ocean- glue these together using deluxe Adhesive.

Step 4

Trim off the end of 2 base cards you have already die cut out, these will be the centre pages of your book. These also need the holes placing in the side as we did previously in step 2.

Step 5

For the second page trim the edge off and add the holes. Cut another base layer & trim off the decorative flap and the score lines. Do this twice.

Step 6

Now you have 2x pieces of card with a glue flap, this needs to be folded and wrapped under the 2nd page of the book.

Step 7

Add the second flap in just the same way so you have you should have a 3 page pull out.

Step 8

All these pages need a white layer. Stamp the camera stamp on the centre of each piece of card, to indicate where the photo is to be placed. Add a magnet to the underside of the decorative flap and to the middle of the page. Cover the magnets with card.

Step 9

Same as the first page add the decorate element to the front of the flap.

Step 10

Use the base die with the score lines trimmed off to create the centre page. Fold as in step one and line with white card and add a decorative flap.

Step 11

Use the same die for the back page as the front page. Trim nothing away but add the holes for the rings to thread through. Add a plain layer to the underside of the decorative flap and add the decorative element.

Step 12

To make the envelope to place on the back page you will need x2 base pieces of card. Cut off the shaped panel and the remaining 4x score lines on the first card so you are left with a large piece with 1x score line. Fold the card at the score line. The flap will form a glue tab.

Step 13

Now trim the decorative panel and all score lines off the second piece of card, you are left with a rectangle with no score lines.

Step 14

Add glue to the tabs and glue to the central rectangle piece to create an envelope shape.

Step 15

Now add glue to the top and bottom of the central panel or use very thin red line tape. You only need a small amount of glue here. Glue the side panel to the central panel.

Step 16

Before decorating the envelope add a magnet to the underside of the envelope flap and another to the central panel and then cover the envelope in ocean card stock. Add the decorative panel to the front of the envelope.

Step 17

Glue the envelope to the inside of the back page with deluxe adhesive, making sure the envelope opens to the outer edge of the book base.

Step 18

A decorative scalloped Die cut can be placed on the front of the envelope panel joining the 2x decorative panels together.

Step 19

Now add the rings to your pages. You will need 8 x of these. Add strips of ribbon in white, mustard and navy to the rings by double knotting them. Now add any sentiments to your book.

Step 20

If you so wish the decorative panels on the front of the book can now be paper pieced. Die cut the decorative panel in the desired colour (I have used yellow) and carefully remove the die trying to keep all the pieces on your cutting mat. Using a pick up tool or fine tweezers add the pieces of card to the decorative panel. Adhere with Deluxe Adhesive. This gives a stunning finish to your book and makes it really pop with a splash of colour.

- White watercolour cardstock

- White smooth cardstock

- Craft Perfect Mirror Card - Glossy Black

Step 1

From your smooth white cardstock, cut a 5x5” square base

From your Glossy Black Mirror Card cut a 5 ¼ x 5 ¼ “ square

From your white watercolour cardstock cut x9 6 x 1” strips

Step 2

Using a blending brush, apply glacier paste to x2 of your strips

Step 3

Using a blending brush, apply your lighter colour embellishment mousses to the remaining x7 strips. Set aside to dry.

Step 4

Using your washi tape, cover the immediate parts of the stencil that are next to the lacy scalloped edge (as shown). This will last the entire project and will ensure no accidental stencilling of ‘unwanted’ patterns.

Step 5

Using a blending brush, stencil over the scalloped edge part of the stencil using the coordinating darker shade. (Ensure to give your stencil a quick wipe with a damp cloth or baby wipe in between colours). Leave to dry

Step 6

On one of your glacier paste pieces, stencil over the top in a contrasting glimmer paste.

Step 7

Stamp out the flower stamp in black or grey ink. Using your alcohol markers, colour in and add white highlights using a gel pen if desired.

Fussy cut around your stamped image, leaving a thin white border

Step 8

Cut the ‘Special Day’ sentiment from both white & glossy black cardstock

and the coordinating sentiment background out of vellum.

Glue to create a drop shadow effect and attach this to the vellum background surround.

Step 9

Fussy cut around all 8 stencilled strips, leaving a thin darker border around the scalloped edge.

Step 10

At the very top of your 5x5” panel, attach the remaining glacier paste strip. Then begin to overlay all of the coloured fussy cut strips in a rainbow order. Leave the remaining ‘stencilled’ glacier paste strip (this will be attached using foam pads).

Step 11

Trim the edges of your panel. Attach the bottom strip using foam pads for a bit of extra dimension and then trim the final edges. Next, attach the panel to the 5¼ x 5¼ glossy black base.

Step 12

Attach your panel to your cardbase and then attach the stamped flower image using foam pads. To finish, add the sentiment using double sided tissue tape.

Craft Perfect Mirror Card - Chrome Silver

Patterned Paper

16cm x 10cm Ready Made Notebooks

11cm (Unstretched) Decorative Elastic Bands or Ribbon

Craft Perfect Bakers Twine

Tonic Tangerine Die Cutting Machine

Tim Holtz Craft Pick

Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive

Tonic Studios Scoring Board

Tonic Studios - Precision Glide Folder

Step 1

Take the main outer edge die and cut twice from black card

Step 2

Fold both at the first and last score lines, overlap the main panel and adhere them both together.

Step 3

Cut another of the main outer edge die and trim off the scored section leaving you with the rectangle.

Step 4

Adhere the rectangle to the rear of the left shaped section. This forms your main book wrap.

Step 5

To construct the envelope pocket, cut the main outer edge die.

Step 6

From the shaped edge, fold the first and second score lines then measure 12 1/2 cm and score another two lines 1cm apart using a score board. Fold these as shown

Step 7

Cut a strip of card 21cm x 9cm, score each end at 1cm and 2cm. Fold the score lines, this will create the front of your envelope pocket.

Step 8

Adhere these two sections together to form the envelope pocket.

Step 9

For the simple layered pockets, cut two of the dotted edge rectangle, cut one in half. Add some scored strips of card to attach the two together. This will give enough room to slide things in. I've added these to the inside covers and also to the back of the envelope pocket.

Step 10

Add decorations to your taste. I've used silver mirror card and because I wanted an extra layer I've drawn around the inside of the die and carefully cut out my patterned paper.

Step 11

Stretch the elastic band to the spine of the book wrap, add the envelope pocket and the ready made notebooks. Embellish with the toppers from the pack so they match in with your theme. By using this system to attach the books, they can be removed and replaced easily once they are filled.

Step 12

The closures were made from a die cut flower with some Bakers Twine as a wrap. Either brad or glue them in place.

Step 2

For the front cover, layer a 12.5cm x 16.6cm piece of patterned paper onto a 13cm x 17cm piece of teal card and glue this behind the shaped part. Use the 2 corresponding dies to create a teal patterned die cut and glue onto the white area.

Step 3

Die cut a rectangle from gold patterned paper and glue to the inside of the front cover. Pop out the flower shaped lined topper and glue on top.

Glue a 13cm x 17cm piece of patterned paper to the right page. Fold the long tab inwards.

Step 4

Use the shaped part of the large die to cut out the teal shape and the smaller die to cut out the corresponding shape in gold patterned paper. Glue the paper to the teal card and glue the long edge and the 2 short edges to the long tab on the right edge of the page, leaving the shaped side open to form a pocket.

Step 5

Die cut the rectangle from floral paper and glue to the back of the previous page. Die cut the ling strip from patterned paper and position on the centre of the page but attach only the top and bottom so that a tag/ photo can fit behind it.

Step 6

DIE CUT 2 PAGES FROM TEAL CARD AND DIE CUT THE HOLES IN THE SAME WAY AS FOR THE FRONT AND BACK COVERS.

Step 8

On the first teal page, fold the long tab backwards (to be used on the next page) and glue down a checked rectangle die cut. Die cut a 7cm wide tag and glue to the centre of the page. Die cut Smile from teal card and glue at an angle to the bottom right corner.

Die cut the shaped piece from floral paper and glue in place.

Step 9

Glue an 8cm x 17cm piece of gold patterned paper to the right side of the page. Cut a 5.5cm x 17cm piece of teal card and glue to the long tab. Attach the top and bottom to the page with double sided tape to create a pocket.

Step 10

Die cut the 2 layering shapes shown from teal card and floral paper. Glue together and glue the left half to the right of the pocket. Add 2 layering flower die cuts on top.

Step 11

Glue a patterned paper die cut rectangle to a 12.5cm x 17cm piece of teal card and remove a semi circle from the top with a circle punch or layering die.

Step 12

Attach this on 3 sides with double sided tape to create a pocket. Use the two narrow strip dies together on gold card to create a patterned rectangle and glue this down the right side of the pocket.

Step 13

Glue a floral shaped die cut to the front flap.

Step 14

Die cut the rectangle die from patterned paper. Place the shaped die as shown with the bottom underneath the paper and die cut to give the rectangle a shaped edge. Score and fold at 12cm from the bottom.

Step 15

On the last page (inside back cover) glue a checked die cut rectangle to the page, fold over the long tab and glue in place. Glue a 0.5 x 16.25cm strip of teal card down the tab.

Step 16

Use the outline shape die and the corresponding detail die on teal card and glue this to the shaped tab.

Step 17

Thread the twine through the holes starting from top to bottom and back up again in a running stitch. Tie a knot and bow at the top.

Step 18

Die cut the Special Day and backing plate from teal and white card, glue together and add to the centre of the book front with 3D foam pads.

Step 19

Add Dream Drops to the die cut flower pattern. Die cut a floral rectangle and glue to the back of the book.

What you will need:

- Dies and papers from Tonic Magazine Issue Two

- Lolly’s box template

- Smooth Card White 300 GSM for box construction

- Classic Card Denim Blue

- Classic Card Mustard Yellow

- Mirror Card Gold Pearl

- Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive

- Double sided redline tape

- Craft Magnets Large: two

- Craft perfect foam squares

Step 1

With Smooth Card White, cut the largest die and burnish the score lines. This makes the box bottom, back, and front flap.

Step 2

Lolly’s template for the front, bottom, and sides of box: cut 27 cm by 16 cm rectangle. On long side score at 1 cm, 5 cm, 22 cm, and 26 cm. On short side score at 12 cm. Once all scoring is done, score an additional 1 cm away from the longest rectangle on the bottom of the box (see pattern). Cut on black lines and burnish on red dotted lines.*

Step 3

Using patterned paper of your choice, cut two large rectangles for front and back of box. Cut three of the slim rectangles in the same pattern.

Step 4

For accents: In Gold Pearl, cut one 16 X 3 cm panel for the top of the box and two 11 X 3 cm panels for the sides. Glue one patterned paper slim rectangle on the longer gold strip. For the side panels, cut the remaining two slim patterned rectangles to 10 cm in length and glue to the shorter gold panels.

Step 5

Lid flap: Cut out the solid panel die in Mustard Yellow cardstock. Use the solid flap panel and decorative panel to cut out Gold Pearl cardstock. Glue the gold die cut onto the Mustard Yellow and glue then to the box flap.

Step 6

Glue top and side panels to the box forms.

Step 7

Glue the large patterned rectangle to the back of the box. Before gluing the front panel, attach one magnet with redline tape, securing it 8 cm from the top of the box front, in the center (8.5 cm from the side). Add more redline tape to the top of the magnet and glue the remaining large patterned rectangle to the front of the box.

Step 8

Assemble the box, gluing box front flaps to the back, starting with the narrow flap on the die cut piece, gluing it to the bottom edge of the template piece.

Step 9

Closure: Cut out a large medallion die with Denim Blue and the smaller medallion die with Gold Pearl. Cut out the flower center in Mustard Yellow, the fishtail banner in patterned paper, and the “love” sentiment in Denim Blue and its shadow in white.

Step 10

Lay the blue medallion piece over the box and lay the magnet over it for placement. It will find it’s mate and line up. Position the blue piece so the magnet is in the bottom 1/3 of the medallion while leaving a border so the gold medallion will cover the magnet. Adhere the magnet onto the blue piece with redline tape.

Step 11

Add redline tape to the top of the magnet and one foam square to the top 1/3 of the medallion. Peel the foam and redline tape and apply the gold medallion over them, centering over the lower medallion.

Step 12

Glue the sentiment to its shadow. Glue them to the center of the flower and add the fishtail banner to the back. Apply to closure medallions with foam squares.

Step 13

Line up the lid with the box, making sure it’s squared. Match the magnets in the medallion and box, and glue the top portion of the medallion to the box flap.

Simple Bound Memory Book

Step 1

Die cut the main outer edge die the same number of times as pages your require, I’m using three for this example. Trim off the single scored section from each.

Step 2

Fold your die cuts along the centre score line. Choose one of the ‘Punch Hole’ strip dies and cut this into both scored areas on each folded die cut. Depending on your cardstock you may need to run this through your die cutting machine for an extra cut as it needs to cut through both layers.

Step 3

Take a thin ribbon and lace your book together loosely starting at the top and working down and back up in a criss cross. The pages will need to lie flat when open so they do not tear. Once your pages are decorated a lot of that loose ribbon will be taken up.

Step 4

Decorate your pages with pockets, layers, secret compartments hidden by magnetic closures and anything else you can think of to fit in your book. Decoration is very personal and can be done to your taste.

TOP TIP: If you find your card being marked by your plates, add a sheet of thin copier paper while cutting.

Simple Fold Out Book

Step 1

For the covers: Die cut the main outer edge die twice. Trim the small scored section from the edge of each one, then trim off the shaped section up to the first score line on one of the die cuts.

Step 2

Fold the larger die cut along the centre score line in a mountain fold, the next is a valley fold and the last one towards the shaped section will also be a mountain fold. The second die cut will need two mountain folds as shown.

Step 3

Overlap the two cover die cuts at the first score line and adhere together.

Step 4

For the inside ‘concertina’ folded page section, cut another six of the main outer edge die and trim off at the multi score line section on all six. These will form your pages and a glue tab.

Step 5

Glue one of the pages to the scored and folded section of the covers adding glue on top of the scored glue tab to secure the front cover. Your page should be sandwiched between the score lines.

Step 6

To enable the pages to fold forwards and backwards onto themselves, you will need to alternate the folded glue tabs Mountain folds and valley folds. The first will be a valley fold to glue to the rear of the first page, the next will be a mountain fold, again adhering to the rear of the next page. Carry on adding however many pages you would like, I have used six.

Step 7

Decorate the book to your own taste.

TOP TIP: Add Magnetic Closures and use your off cuts and layers to disguise them

Simple ‘No Spine’ Memory Book

Step 1

For the covers: Die cut the main outer edge die twice. Trim off the shaped section at the first score line.

Step 2

Fold each one along the furthest score line, overlap and glue these together. They form the spine.

Step 3

For the pages: Die cut six of the same outer edge die, trim off the small scored section on each one. Trim off the shaped section from two at the second score line, two at the third score line and two at the fourth score line.

Step 4

Fold each of these at the first score line to form your pages, overlap and glue each set together.

Step 5

Take your covers and open them so they lay flat, glue the pages at the central spine, overlaying them until you get to the smallest.

Step 6

Decorate your book to your own taste.

Simple Notebook/Journal Cover

Step 1

For the covers: Die cut the main outer edge die twice. Trim off the shaped section at the first score line on one of the die cuts. On the other die cut, fold at the central three score lines.

Step 2

Select one of the ‘Punch Hole’ dies and cut this into the single scored section on each of your die cuts.

Step 3

Take the layer die and cut sheets of paper to fill your book. Cut the same ‘Punch Hole’ die into the edge of these.

Step 4

Take a length of bakers twine or ribbon of your choice and lace your covers and pages together.

Step 5

To add a pen holder, cut the rectangular edge die from patterned paper, trim approximately a third from the length and roll around a thick pen so the edges over lap to enable you to glue them together. Adhere this to the side of the inner pages, adding a pen to clip over the edge.

Step 6

Add magnetic closures and decorate to your taste.

TOP TIP: When you cut the paper sheets for inside your book, because of the dotted detail around the edge they tend to stick together. Keep them together like this until you have punched the holes for lacing the book together, then separate.
